Teenage Boy's Room

While Danny was in California this week, I took the opportunity to try and make a silk purse from a sow's ear. The project took a little longer than I wanted it to, but I think it turned out pretty dang awesome.
The walls stayed the same color - I had just enough leftover from painting it a few years ago to touch up the grubby/scratched bits (Behr - Whisper Yellow).  Curtains and chair cover - IKEA fabric (Susannah (I think)). Bedding from Walmart. Bed from the as-is department at IKEA.
I painted the closet gray - leftover from painting the Empire Strikes Bath. The shelf brackets/supports were reused from an earlier project - I happened to find them a few weeks ago when I was cleaning out the garage.  Extra brackets and shelves from Home Depot. Hanging light from IKEA.
Round mirrors were left-overs from the bathroom project.  All the art in the rectangular frames were downloaded from The Graphics Fairy.

We're not quite done with the desk area - Steve still needs to construct a riser for the monitor and we need to do a little cord control. The desk came from the as-is department at IKEA - Steve cut about 8 inches off the back so that it fits the space better. The chair is from IKEA - I made a custom cover so that Danny won't stick to the pleather.  The hanging light is also from IKEA - it's the same as the closet light, only bigger. The bookcase that was originally under the window was painted the same gray as the closet.

Large picture: Goodwill. Small pictures: frames and mats from Goodwill, pictures printed from my computer.
I still need to pick up a couple more black baskets from Target for the top shelf...and play around a bit with staging.  I might add another clipboard or two - what do you think?

  1. Fantabulous to the 3rd! I wouldn't even let him in if I was you...he could sleep in a cupboard under the stairs or something...
