All Boy (Simplicity 2319)

What? You don't believe me? I promise, this post is all about boys. Really.

Girly pattern? No problem.

Simplicity 2377 - Review and revision.

I was looking for a simple top pattern for a little girl...go ahead, look through the pattern books...I'll wait.

Yeah, they are few and far between.  Most of the tops in the pattern books seem to be store-bought tee's.  I was looking for something a little different...after making the dress pattern found in Simplicity 2377, I said to myself, "Self, you could easily make a top out of this."  I opted for just lengthening the bodice front and back pieces about 10-ish inches ( I also made it go straight down from the armhole seam instead of tapering in).  I also used the shorter neckline elastic like I did for the dress. That's it. Easy Peasy.



I lengthened the sleeves on this top about an inch.



We went from fabulous to awesome possum by adding the matching top to this cute skirt. I wish I was young enough to pull this off.



Simplicity 2377 - Review

I am so in love with this pattern...we're practically going steady.  I've made three items from this one pattern - all a little different.  This pattern seems to run pretty true to size. Let's start with the first thing I made.

Key Lime Pie

Tylor asked for this and we have fallen head over heels for it. It is simply delicious!

Key Lime Pie (amended from Kraft recipe 2011)

1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup lime juice

1 envelope Lemon-Lime Kool-aid (unsweetened)*

1 8 oz tub of Lite Cool Whip

1 lime - finely grate the peel and save the juice

Combine first three ingredients. Stir in half of grated lime peel and the fresh lime juice. Whisk in 2 1/2 cups Cool Whip (estimate this). Freeze for 6 hours. Take out of freezer 15 minutes before serving. Top with remaining Cool Whip then sprinkle on the remaining lime peel.

*If you can't find Lemon-Lime Kool-aid you can use Lemonade but then you need to add some green food coloring.

McCalls 5966 - Review

What do you get when you cross a tablecloth with a bedsheet?  Fabulousness, that's what.

Easy McCalls 5966

I like a pattern that is what it says it is...easy. The only tricky parts to this pattern were putting in a zipper - not that hard, just a little fiddly, and doing the set-in sleeves that were too small to go around the 'free-arm' part of my sewing machine.  Again, not hard, just a bit fiddly. The end result is pretty dang cute - and slightly Colonial.

Bloomers

Debbie was mentioning today that she was going to make bloomers for Miriam. Now she needs to stitch the above sign so she knows why...teehee!
